How you’ll benefit... every step of the way

From the Simple Things to the Difficult

We provide the standard services you would expect - from bookkeeping and payroll, to tax, audit and accounts. We also provide the extras - from helping you complete your first VAT return to tax planning and HMRC investigations, business advice, Research and Development tax credit claims, company secretarial services, due diligence, Charities and Independent Schools, Trusts, Landed Estates, and Probate.

We have recently;

  • Saved a client over £9,000 tax by disclaiming his UK personal tax allowances and electing for a different basis of assessment on his emigration
  • Saved a corporate client around £3,000 a year by registering for VAT under the Flat Rate Scheme on a commercial property
  • The Outer Mongolia-UK double tax treaty? We've advised on it for one of our corporate clients
  • Helped a young entrepreneur secure a lease for her new business in a major shopping centre with financial projections for her business plan and advice including product pricing

2009 Budget

View our summary of the 2009 Budget headlines, or see our full briefing. Our tax card has the new tax rates.

Of particular importance to loss making businesses, the new loss relief allowing carry back of up to £50,000 of losses back to the previous three years (rather than just one year) can now be claimed from HMRC.

Please contact us if you wish to discuss any points or concerns arising from the Budget.

The Recession

We are currently advising our clients on strategies to ease their cash flow and minimise risk. Please see our press release and Protecting Your Business guide.

The York Enterprise/Whyte Knight Fund

We are pleased to be partcipating in providing services towards this fund as part of York Professionals. The scheme is open to existing businesses less than 3 years old or people who work in the City of York Council Area, who are either under threat or notice of redundancy or were made redundant or have been out of employment within the past 12 months. The applicant must be intending to set up or has set up a new business either in premises in the York Area, or from home with the intention of moving to premises in York."

What do you find most frustrating about running your own business?

We’d hazard a guess that it’s outside interference. Probably dealing with bureaucracy. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. In our experience that’s always the case whether you’re a fledgling enterprise or an established concern. However, the good news is that you can avoid it.

All you need is a helping hand. In fact one as easy to get hold of as navigating this web site. Once that happens, you’ll find no obstacles between you and a flourishing future.
